Love, mostly

Valentine's Day shirts for the smitten and the single

Our Valentine's Day shirts are made for date night, the office candy swap and the people who skip the whole thing. There's a hedgehog with heart-shaped quills in “Love Hurts”, a possum bringing a rose in “Possum Bouquet”, a toad who'd like some room in “Personal Space” and a goose with a rose in its beak in “Tender but Armed”. Every design comes as a t-shirt, tank top, crop top, hoodie and sweatshirt, and each one is printed in the USA when you order it.

Soft side

Valentine's sweatshirts and heart graphics

Not every Valentine's shirt needs a punchline. “Wildflower Heart” is a vintage anatomical heart with wildflowers and ferns growing out of it, “Heart in Bloom” is a heart made of wildflowers and tiny mushrooms, and “Stuck on You” sets two patterned moths in a floral heart. “Lovey Dovey” puts the words in fat retro letters with two little doves, and our “LOVE” shirt keeps it to four bold vintage letters. Each one makes a heart sweatshirt or hoodie that works in February and still works in July. More growing things live in our plant shirts, and more feathered ones in our bird shirts.

Better together

Matching Valentine's shirts for couples

“Partners in Crime” comes as two shirts, Left and Right: two raccoon bandits, each with a sack of loot, one for each of you. Each one works alone, and side by side they're clearly in on it together. More pairs: “Birds of a Feather” (two little birds on a branch), “Shellmates” (two snails with heart-shaped shells) and “Love at First Bite” (two bats framing a heart). Meet the rest of our raccoon shirts.

Hard pass

Funny Valentine's shirts for the anti-Valentine's crowd

“Ew, Feelings” is a grumpy black cat holding a heart at arm's length, a sister to our “Ew, People” shirt. “Sweet Talk? Hard Pass.” swaps the sweet sayings on its candy hearts for NAH, NO and NAP?. For guarded hearts there's “Feelings, By Appointment”, “Limited Emotional Availability” and “Emotionally Unavailable, Exception Pending”. Homebodies get “Love Language: Leaving Early” and “Flirting With My Bedtime”, and reluctant crushes get “Unfortunately, Smitten” and “Fond of You”. Flirts with an exit plan get “Love 'Em and Leave 'Em”, an orange cat strolling off in sneakers with a heart left behind. More eye-rolling lives in our sarcastic t-shirts.

Tiny valentines

Kids' Valentine's shirts and baby onesies

“Heart Stealer” is made for little ones: a tiny raccoon hanging upside down from a rope, hugging a big red heart. It works for boys and girls, and most of our Valentine's animal and heart graphics also come as a youth tee, toddler tee and baby onesie, so the whole family can match. See every one, onesies included, in our kids Valentine's shirts.

Pick your fit

Valentine's t-shirts in every fit, plus mugs

Every Valentine's t-shirt here comes in four styles. Everyday is soft cotton with a modern fit, Soft Cotton has a little more weight, Lightweight is the lightest of the four, and Oversized is thicker organic cotton cut roomy, with dropped shoulders. The same designs come as Valentine's tank tops, Relaxed or Boxy Valentine's crop tops and white or colored Valentine mugs, for the sweetheart who runs on coffee. Every design also comes as a Valentine's tote bag and a hardcover notebook, for love notes you may never send.

What should I wear on Valentine's Day?

Wear what fits your plans: something comfy for a night in, something a little dressed up for dinner, and a funny shirt for school, work or the office candy swap. A grumpy cat holding a heart counts as festive. We checked.

What does wearing red or black mean on Valentine's Day?

Red stands for love and romance, pink for sweetness, and black has no official meaning, though some single people wear it as a quiet protest. Some schools and offices play a color game (red for taken, for example), but those rules change from place to place. Our Valentine's designs come on several shirt colors, so pick the one that matches your mood.

Can I wear a Valentine's shirt after February?

Yes. The sweet ones, like “Wildflower Heart” and “Lovey Dovey”, are just good graphics, and the anti-Valentine's jokes work any day someone gets too sappy. Hearts don't expire.

What's a funny Valentine's gift that isn't chocolate?

A shirt, sweatshirt or mug with a joke they'll actually get, like “Lovey Dovey” for the softies or “Ew, Feelings” for the eye-rollers. It lasts longer than chocolate, and nobody has to share it.

When should I order a Valentine's shirt?

Order at least 10 business days before you need it, so by the end of January for February 14. Everything at Birch & Bishop is made to order, and delivery usually takes 4 to 7 business days from the order date. Cupid has wings; we have a timeline.
